WW2 German Camouflage M40 Single Decal Luftwaffe Ground Combat Helmet

A striking M40 single decal Luftwaffe helmet from a ground combat unit with ad hoc camouflage stripes in the classic Normandy colours of tan ochre & green. This has been applied over a rough textured dark green paint finish which was painted over its smooth factory applied blue finish before the camouflage. Decal remains largely intact . A small impact dent to the top is indicative of this helmet having seen combat with paint loss in the immediate area . All three liner rivets are original to the helmet showing unbent pins to reverse. Interior marked 'hkp62' which was the mark used by the firm 'Saxon Emaillerwerke' from around the Spring of 1941. The Lot number '357' combined with the aforementioned maker code & size identifies back to a single decal Luftwaffe helmet. Leather liner showing heavy wear. Chinstrap shows very faint traces of markings to reverse of pointed end with grey painted steel buckle.
