WW2 German Gebirgsjager Medical Officers Combat Tunic
An untouched private purchase medical officers tunic in the early M36 style with dark green collar & Gebirgsjager badge to right arm denoting this officer was attached to a Mountain troops unit.
German officers were required to purchase their own uniforms the quality of which dependant on their budget. This tunic is in classic early green grey wool with officer style pocket flaps & cornflower blue piped bullion collar tabs. The breast eagle is also of bullion . These are all neatly hand sewn & quite typical of professional tailor application. Looking at the natural buildup of age around the collar tabs & the fine stitching around the well seated eagle I would confidently say that both are originally wartime applied. A second class iron cross ribbon denotes a well served officer & is totally original to the tunic as evidenced by the unweathered fresh cloth underneath which is revealed when the ribbon is pulled back. To the right sleeve is an embroidered mountain troops Edelweiss badge denoting service with a mountain troops regiment .
In overall condition there is general service wear throughout with no unsightly moth or damage.
