WW2 German Panzer Officers Grouping
A very nice grouping reputedly from the same German Panzer officer all given to a British Royal Engineers officer whom he had befriended in the immediate post war period. Both the British officer & former German officer were involved in the Architectural rebuilding of Buckeburg Castle , Lower Saxony hence becoming friends & artefacts changing hands.
Fast forwarding on to a London auction house in December 2003 the grouping came up for sale via the British officers son & then into a collectors hands. The new owner then carried out some research & in 2011 decided to move the group on. It was then sold to another collector & kept by him until now.
With this group :
1. High quality 'Pekuro' made visor cap
2. A copy signed photograph of the officer
3. Pair of P cyphered & '16' numbered officer boards
4. Pair of officers bullion Panzer piped collar litzen
5. The original December '03 auction catalogue
6. Some correspondence from previous owners
which may well have identified the MC winner
British officer & his service history.
Cap itself is by the quality maker 'Peter Kupper' (Pekuro) & of tricot construction with classic green undersided peak , green satin lining & leather perforated sweatband. These features are unique to Kupper with the green backed visor only usually found on Luftwaffe caps. Pink piped it has its original insignia still firm with some moth nips to the piping in places. Through the bitten areas at the rear one can see the original cap wire around the circumference of the cap. Boards are officer bullion with P cyphers & number '16' . Both collar tabs with dark green backing & pink piped with typical correct construction to rear.
