WW2 German Grey Woodchip Camouflage M40 Named Helmet With Field Made Belt Hanger
WW2 German Army M40 combat helmet that has had a thick camouflage overpaint in grey paint mixed with woodchip . To the rear of the helmet is a D looped belt hanger affixed down inside the liner by the soldier with belt hanging loop still affixed.
The area of the army decal displays a blank patch where the decal was removed to left side no doubt as per 1940 regulations. Rear underside of rim named 'H.Wittig'. All three liner pins totally untouched with zinc liner band dated 1940. Leather liner good with only minor age , this is dated 1940 to its underside. Tightening cord present. Chinstrap has grey painted steel buckle with what appears to be a '44' date to pointed end.
