WW2 German M40 Steel Combat Helmet
A classic German Army M40 combat helmet with single decal.
Another helmet that has come to us completely as found , uncleaned & with original chinstrap still on. Made by the firm 'Quist' it has the ubiquitous bigfoot decal still largely intact & a very original , uncleaned slate grey finish to inside & out. All three liner pins are totally undisturbed since wartime this evident on both interior & exterior with unbent pins & natural age oxidisation between the liner & the shell. Underside of rim marked 'Q64' with lot number 'DN302' it is fitted with a pigskin liner that has on it the soldiers initials 'L.H'. Tied to one of the chinstrap bales is a piece of tightening string that may have once formed a netting of some sort on the outside of the helmet fro the attachment of foliage . Chinstrap has grey painted buckle & never been off of the helmet.
Overall an honest untouched combat helmet showing all the scuffs of heavy field wear & natural age oxidisation from prolonged storage.
