WW2 German M40 NCOs Tunic
A German M40 four pocket combat tunic with NCO tress to collar & Bevo breast eagle & collar tabs.
This tunic shows all the signs of a heavily field used piece ideal for a combat infantryman mannequin with wear to the nap of the cloth & a faint outline around waist where belt was constantly worn. With grey collar , four pleated pockets , scalloped flaps & a five button frontage this is the classic M40 model. A veteran of the Russian Front as denoted by the 'frozen meat' medal ribbon there are also two further award loops to left breast pocket most likely for an Iron Cross. Grey on green bevo breast eagle is neatly handstitched in situ with universal tabs & NCO tress to collar. Two of its horn buttons remain for attachment of collar liner. Interior lining shows heavy service wear with dice marked size stamps & manufacturer ' W.Kreulze Uniformfabrik Wurzburg ' . The depot stamp 'M41' denoting 1941 is also visible.
