WW2 German M40 Luftwaffe Ex-Wire Italian Camouflage Helmet
Brought back from Italy by a British soldier in WW2 this stunning German three colour camouflage helmet has evidence of a wire being in situ when the camouflage paint was first applied.
In classic tan ochre , brown & green the shadow of a luftwaffe decal can be seen on the left side. To the interior of the helmet the paint scheme extends to the underside of the rim with maker & size ' ET64' visible through the paint. Liner is totally original to the helmet with size mark '56' visible & no damage to fingers. Drawstring intact. Chinstrap is in the typical brown leather of early Luftwaffe issues with aluminium buckle & marked to tip with the maker name 'PAUL KLOPFER' , date not visible.
